TORAH WEEKEND — FEBRUARY 10 & 11, 2012
“A Journey of Faith”
SCHOLARS-IN-RESIDENCE:
BISHOP DAVID ZUBIK & RABBI AARON BISNO
The Rabbi William Sajowitz Endowment Fund of Temple Emanuel of South Hills, together with Beth El Congregation of South Hills Men’s Club, and the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh-South Hills, bring you Torah Weekend with special Scholars-in-Residence. A grant from the Men of Reform Judaism Congregational Interfaith Mini-Grant Program made possible by funding of the Jewish Chautauqua Society, MRJ’s interfaith education project, and a grant from PAJC C-JEEP Program also helped to support this weekend.
This will be the first time in the 38 year history of Torah Weekend that our congregations will present an interfaith program inviting both the Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese and the Greater Pittsburgh Jewish Community. Our weekend will focus on Bishop Zubik’s and Rabbi Bisno’s participation in theNovember 2010 pilgrimage of peace with twenty-eight Catholics and Jews. This interfaith delegation shared an eight-day journey to the Eternal City of Rome and the Holy Land of Israel. In the course of their travels, they shared an audience with the Pope, met with Vatican leaders and emissaries, sat with family members of Israeli captive Gilad Shalit, learned alongside Jewish scholars and toured both Jewish and Christian holy sites.
