Friday, September 13

7:00 PM – Shabbat Service including Rabbi Meyer’s Installation as Temple Emanuel’s Senior Rabbi followed by our Pittsburgh-Themed Super-Sized Cookie Table Oneg! All are welcome, but RSVPs are requested to ensure that we can accommodate everyone. Babysitting will be provided for ages 2 through Kindergarten with pre-registration required (see form below).

We will also be collecting toiletries and diapers for SHIM.  Please bring your donation with you to Temple.

Saturday, September 14

Help us make a difference in our neighborhood! We have planned several social action projects for Shabbat afternoon including opportunities to:

  • Volunteer at SHIM in Bethel Park (2-4PM) – Tour SHIM’s facility and participate in sorting and stocking the food pantry (Ages 5+)
  • Prepare a meal for Miryam’s Place (3-5PM at Temple) – Cook & assemble lunches for the homeless women at the shelter. (Middle school & up)
  • Participate in Repair the World Service Learning (3-5PM at Temple) – Participate in a “Free Minds Poetry Session,” facilitated by Repair the World. Free Minds uses books, creative writing, and peer support to awaken incarcerated youth to their own potential. Volunteers will read poems written by inmates and provide written feedback (High School & up)
  • Prepare High Holiday gift bags for our Senior members (3-5PM at Temple) – Assemble gift bags and make cards. (All ages)
  • Get-your-hands-dirty projects in Temple’s gardens and playground (3-5PM) – Tend the gardens or construct new play spaces for our playground and learn about our special gardens (All ages with parent/adult)

The celebration continues at Carnegie Coffee Company at 6:00 PM!

Join us for a casual family-friendly evening.  Great food, specialty coffees, smoothies, adult beverages & schmoozing! We’ll celebrate the end of Shabbat together with Havdalah at 7:30 PM.

$18 per person; $50 family maximum.  Space is limited and RSVPs are required.
