John Temple, son-in-law of Cheri & Joel Schwartz, wrote a non-fiction book, "Deadhouse: Life in a Coroner's Office," which chronicles the real-life exploits of a team of death investigators from the Allegheny County Coroner's Office.
Temple Emanuel’s Executive Director, Reva Schulman, attended the National Association of Temple Educators Institute, successfully completing all coursework and passing all of the exams.
The United Jewish Federation of Pittsburgh (UJF) has named Temple member Samantha Rothaus as the director of UJF Women.

Buy a $10 raffle ticket for a chance to win one of three shopping sprees. The grand prize is a $1,500 Best Buy gift card; second and third prize are $1,000 and $500 Simon Mall Visa debit cards that can be used at 285 malls across the country including South Hills Village. Tickets have been mailed to congregants' homes and are available in the Temple office and gift shop and from board members. The deadline to buy tickets is Dec. 14. The drawing is Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. Proceeds of the 2006 Holiday Raffle benefit Temple. Click on the link for more information.
Programming will be offered for children ages 2 to 5 years, or not yet attending kindergarten, during the 9 a.m. services on both Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur. Babysitting will be available at the 11:45 a.m. services. Sept. 7 was the registration deadline. Click on the link for more information and the registration form.
