Saralouise Reis, FTA
Temple Executive Director
Saralouise Reis joined Temple Emanuel as executive director on Aug. 29, 2005. She has been involved in synagogue life for the last 30 years. Her areas of expertise include catering, business management, adult education, programming and daily adminstration.
From 1998 to August 2005, Saralouise served as the office manager, assistant administrator and, most recently, administrator of Congregation Beth Shalom in Squirrel Hill. From 1984 to 1998, she was a family education coordinator and rebbetzin at Congregation Beth Israel in Flint, Mich. From 1990 to 1998, Saralouise was a nutrition specialist at GCCAA Head Start in Flint.
She is a graduate of the State University of New York - College at Oneonta, in Oneonta, N.Y., with a bachelor's degree in French education and a minor in Hebrew. Her additional degrees include a bachelor's degree in nutrition education and counseling from Thomas Edison State College, Trenton, N.J., and a master's degree in health education from West Virginia University, Morgantown W. Va.
Saralouise received her FTA (Fellow in Temple Administration) from the National Association of Temple Adminstrators in 2007.
Saralouise is the mother of Ezra and Sonja, Ari and Jenny and Efrem and Lauren Reis, and the grandmother of Elyse, Gabriel, Jonas, and Noah. Saralouise is actively involed in community affairs, including the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter of Hadassah and Na'amat. She enjoys classes at the Agency for Jewish Learning, traveling, visiting local historical sites and playing mah jong

Nanette Simon
Temple Nursery School Director
Nanette Simon has served as Director of the Temple Emanuel Nursery School since 1983. She taught in the school for one year prior to becoming its director. She has overseen the growth of the school from 78 children to its current 270. The staff now numbers 19 teachers and teachers' aides who work with over 27 classes each week. The school became accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children in 1996.
Nan has a B.S. in Special and Elementary Education from Duquesne University. Post graduate education has included coursework at Penn State, the University of Pittsburgh, and Duquesne University. Nan is the wife of Jeffrey and the mother of Jennifer (26) and Lauren (20).
