Donating to Temple / Fundraising

The Temple Fundraising Coordination Committee oversees and spearheads various fundraising events, which provide Temple with much-needed revenue.  The committee is chaired by Howard Wolf.  He can be reached at (412) 358-0152 or miltsson@aol.com.

SHOTGUN!

It is a shout, in a rather loud voice, by a person (usually a child between the ages of 12 and 17) at the top of his lungs, to lay claim to the seat next to the driver of an automobile. It usually causes arguments if not shouted loudly enough, spoken soon enough, or given up often enough for the other to enjoy that front seat on a regular basis.

The concept of riding shotgun allows the rider to sit close to the action, to see things first hand, to have a say in what goes on. It gives them the opportunity to help with direction, to assist with major decisions and to ultimately be the co-pilot

The Board of Temple Emanuel asks you to join us. Step forward and serve our Temple community in whatever way you are capable

It is no secret that these are challenging times indeed. When times are tough, the strength of our community becomes more important than ever. Each of us has unique gifts and talents that we bring to our community. Some can offer financial assistance, some can offer their time and expertise and others can offer their loving compassion.

There is this little word that makes everyone run – that word is fundraising. But Temple Emanuel is a non-profit and our dues, Circles of Giving, tuition and fees do not cover all of our expenses. That means that from time to time we have to ask for additional money. Whether we present it as a party, an auction, a brick or a grapefruit, we need your financial support. There is no way around it … We need to continue to ask and we hope you will continue to answer. Think about it. We’re driving – you’re shotgun; but if there’s no money our car isn’t going anywhere.

This year, we are committed to raising $75,000, not only to fund and support our community’s programs but to keep Temple Emanuel operating and available to our more than 575 families. Your support will fund quality educational programming for our Torah Center students, provide meaningful worship services to our families during Shabbat, holidays and lifecycle events and maintain our beautiful building. Your support will enhance the present at Temple Emanuel and ensure our future.

We ask that you give to your community as generously as you are able.

Find the time to share yourself with Temple. Find the time to share yourself with God.

Ways to Give

Temple Funds
A wonderful way to pay tribute to someone special and provide much appreciated financial support for Temple is by donating to a Temple Fund.

Circles of Giving
Circles of Giving, practiced by synagogues throughout the country, addresses a deficit situation arising from the large number of members on dues concessions and those who are in arrears.

Wouldn’t you rather share your financial success with Temple Emanuel instead of the IRS and still get a tax deduction? This can be done!
Order your 2005 Entertainment Book and/or Enjoy Coupon Book through Temple Brotherhood. Your purchases benefit Temple.
An easy way to endow a gift to Temple Emanuel is to designate Temple as the beneficiary of all or a portion of an insurance policy, IRA, or othe qualified retirement plan.
If you participate in the United Way, please consider the “contributor’s choice” option to designate a portion of your contribution for the Temple Emanuel Nursery School (Donor Choice #1250695).
In keeping with the Jewish tradition, we observe the anniversary of a loved one’s death by saying Kaddish. A Yahrzeit plaque is a permanent reminder of the place they held in our lives. By purchasing a Yahrzeit paque, Kaddish will always be said at Temple Emanuel on the anniversary of their death.
