About Temple Emanuel of South Hills

We welcome you to join us for worship, education and community
in our renovated synagogue.  We are a Reform Jewish congregation with a warm approach to tradition.  We are located in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Temple Emanuel of South Hills is located at 1250 Bower Hill Road at Covenant Drive in Mt. Lebanon.  Temple Emanuel is a warm and diverse congregation that welcomes Jewish and interfaith families as well as single members.

Temple Emanuel offers worship services, adult education opportunities, youth groups, "Torah for Tots" and other programming for children and families, and an extensive religious and Hebrew school known as the Torah Center.  The temple also sponsors a nursery school accepting children of all denominations that has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the nation's largest organization of early childhood eduators.

The congregation is served by Dr. Mark Joel Mahler, senior rabbi, and by Jessica Locketz, associate rabbi.  Saralouise Reis is the executive director.

Over the last fifty years our membership has grown to about 600 families. Now with our expanded religious school, our beautiful new Beit HaT'fila and a new, modern library, we are ready to grow even more. If you aren't already a member we are very interested to talk to you about joining our congregation.  You may contact the Temple office at (412) 279-7600.

Temple Emanuel's vision is helping all our congregants find more ways to live Judaism each new year than the year before.  Our mission is to preserve, strengthen, and realize the sacred principles and practices of Judaism.

Take some time to explore this Web site, find out more about Temple Emanuel, learn about upcoming events, find opportunities to get involved, read the rabbis' latest messages, or access other links of Jewish interest.
