This new column will highlight the men and women of our congregation who have become active participants in Temple Emanuel Retirees in Mitzvah Service, or TERMS.
Ed Friedman has been a member of TERMS since its inception in May of this year. Ed and Roz, his wife, have been Temple members for many years. Both their children received a Jewish education at Temple, culminating with their confirmations.
Ed has been active in Brotherhood, and served on the Board of Trustees in the 1980s. Both Ed and Roz were also active in several Chavurot over a period of years, providing them with a strong sense of community. Since then, Ed began looking for another Temple connection.
"When Bob Konig mentioned that he was putting together a volunteer group of Temple retirees, I felt that perhaps this was the type of activity that would fill the bill." Looking back on his experience, to date, Ed added, "My participation in the TERMS group thus far has centered around contributing to the development of an updated Temple inventory, helping to tidy up the Temple Emanuel cemetery, and assisting a Covenant resident at one of the Kol Nidre services. These were extremely worthwhile projects that were personally satisfying and enabled me to establish new friendships with fellow TERMS volunteers."
As to the future, Ed said, "I look forward to continuing my activities as part of the TERMS team."
